27th Norwich Scout Group

Scouting provides fun and adventure to over 28 million young boys and girls every day to every corner of the globe. In the UK, The Scout Association is the largest co-educational youth movement in the country with over 500,000 members.

Brief

Norwich Designer became involved with the 27th Norwich Scout Group in 2010. The task was to create a new website that would give members and prospective members lots of information about the group, including what is currently happening, and information for parents whilst sticking to The Scout Association’s national branding but with a fun, local twist.

Solution

Norwich Designer came up with a design based on the outdoors. A simple content management system was installed to make updating pages easy, along with a gallery to show what members are getting up to. Social networking was fully integrated, videos are uploaded to YouTube, news stories are automatically tweeted on Twitter and people can interact on Facebook.

As well as designing and building the group’s website, Norwich Designer was asked to design and implement headed paper and leaflet designs for the group, in line with national guidelines, thus refreshing the group’s whole public image.

Result

Within a week of the new website being online, the scout group gained 2 new members as a direct result of enquiries from the website. The 27th Norwich Scout Group website has now become a big part of the group, parents rely on the site for the latest information on outings and events.

After seeing the 27th Norwich Scout Group’s website, Norwich Designer were approached by a group in Bramley, Leeds to create version for them.

27th Norwich Scout Group is one of the very local organisations Norwich Designer has helped get set up on the world wide web.
